People there seem to have better luck with Razer mice as Razer at least includes some OS X software Logitech doesn't officially support their line of high-performance mice on OS X. This blog post has a lot more about the issue and a running list of affected mice. It might not bother some people as much but when I'm mucking around in Photoshop or trying to accurately place a cursor accurately somewhere in the terminal or a code editor, it gets frustrating. If you're considering getting a gaming / high-resolution mouse and using it with OS X, keep this in mind. Select your mouse from the product drop-down menu at the top left. Click the My Mouse tab at the top of the SetPoint Settings window. Start > Programs > Logitech > Mouse and Keyboard > Mouse and Keyboard Settings. I'll have to wait until I find someone with a PC I can use for 10 minutes. To customize the mouse button settings for games: Launch the Logitech SetPoint mouse and keyboard software. I tried forcing a driver update on the HID device, which worked but SetPoint was not fooled. VMware Fusion is finicky about reporting the true hardware device details to the OS so the mouse just appeared as a generic HID device that the SetPoint software would not recognize. I tried getting this to work in my Windows VM but no such luck. As such, after changing that setting and connecting it to a Mac it should work properly at low speeds. The G500 and other high-end Logitech mice have internal memory and will store this setting and use it natively regardless of the host OS. Until Apple releases some kind of fix for this, a pseudo-fix that lessens the effect currently appears to be connecting the mouse to a Windows PC running the Logitech SetPoint software and lowering the polling rate there. A simple test is trying to draw a diagonal line in Photoshop at low speed. What happens is that at low speeds, the cursor becomes jumpy and feels like it moves erratically 3-4 pixels at a time in various directions. OS X feels more comfortable with a polling rate of around 125Hz. The G500 natively reports 1000 times per second. Mac OS X does not deal well with high resolution mice and their respective high USB polling rates. I realized the issue lies with OS X instead. The above solution worked for me hope so for others.Unfortunately, the G500 is giving me issues too. Note this is not an ACER or LOGITECH or CHROME thing, it is strictly a WINDOWS thing even if the screen denies it. If you have Windows 10 installed on your PC you will now see a menu that allows you to establish how many lines you want your mouse wheel to scroll.Scroll down to that settings, open it, then Device and Mouse buttons on next screens.Find the start button on your computer (usually bottom left) and click on it.To make my mouse wheel move the pointer in a scroll-like fashion on web pages I had to go into the WINDOWS10 mouse settings as follows: Last Microsoft download (that sneaks around in background every month) must have reset mouse settings to zero original default (or something like that). Messing with ACER "device properties" via any hardware access route does not fix the problem only adds frustration. You must ignore Logitech troubleshooting as it fixes nothing. You won't find a fix for it in Chrome Browser SETTINGS. The Logitech SetPoint Software lets you customize your mouse buttons, keyboard F-keys and hot-keys, control tracking speed, and configure other device-specific settings. On web pages the wheel just sat there scorning me - did not move at all. Problem encountered: After last massive Windows update download, mouse wheel would only move pointer in Office apps and in local drive directories. My equipment: ACER laptop and Logitech wireless mouse (specific model probably irrelevant). You have probably gone and bought a different mouse already to solve your wheel problem but for the benefit of many others who probably will agonize over the same or similar problem, here's what I found:
